What better way to get into the holiday spirit than Christmas lights and decorations!

This year, Downtown Grand Rapids will be holding their annual Light Up Downtown - Winter Season Kickoff event on Friday, December 1st at Rosa Parks Circle.

The evening will kick off at 5 p.m. with a schedule of activities including:

  • Caroling from Good Tidings Caroling Company
  • Performance by WMU's Synchronized Skating Team
  • Speech from Mayor Rosalynn Bliss

At 5:45 p.m. is when all the Downtown lights will be lit up including the Christmas tree.

Finally, don't forget to bring your skates because Rosa Parks Circle will officially be open for ice skating to the public; and kids (17 and younger) will get to skate for free all night.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be at the event taking pictures with people.

If you're coming after work and don't have time to stop for dinner, thankfully a few local food trucks will be on site.
