A World War II veteran got to celebrate his 100th birthday at a Whitecaps game. Donn Palmer has always been a fan of baseball, so he and all his neighbors at the Holland Home were given tickets to go see the Whitecaps play the South Bend Cubs on Monday night.

Little did Palmer know that he was also going to be giving the first pitch of the game. In addition to the first pitch, Palmer was also given a special Whitecaps jersey with his name and a 100 on the back. In addition to being a baseball fan, Palmer is an artist, poet. Also at the game was Tiger's pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, who is recovering from a shoulder injury.
