A man who used to live in Otsego is suing Allegan County after he says he sustained injuries at the hands of jail staff, including broken bones. Warning: the video contains violence.)

45-year-old Aaron Henderson claims that he was forcibly undressed and beaten. He claims the beating left him with broken bones in his face, according to the lawsuit, which has been filed in federal court.

The suit claims his face was slammed into a wall and that he was also kneed twice in the head back in February 2014.

According to WZZM-13, the incident was investigated by the Berrien County Sheriff's Department and it was recommended that one of the men involved, jail officer Jacob Kapanui, be charged with aggravated assault.

The Allegan County prosecutor's office never pressed charges.

Kapanui is still employed at the jail, according to WZZM-13 who spoke to the Allegan County Sheriff's Department.

On February 19, 2014, Henderson was arrested. The suit claims that Henderson was acting erratically due to trouble with prescribed medication and other supplements. He was taken to Allegan General Hospital.

Henderson left the hospital, and was later arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Allegan County Jail.

The trouble began, according to the suit, during the booking process. Henderson alleges that jail staff accused him of not responding quickly enough to their requests.

Henderson was then allegedly "forcibly" stripped of his clothes, and then the suit says he was assaulted, and was then left bleeding in his cell.

Several hours later,  video shows Henderson writing in blood on the cell wall, the suit claims. The suit claims that Henderson was not taken to the hospital until nearly 12 hours after the assault.
