Helicopters and convoys will be coming to the Grand Rapids area June 23 through June 27.

WOOD-TV 8 reports Operation Northern Exposure will be the first time the Michigan National Guard will work with the local authorities.

The drill is meant to prepare authorities in the event of a dirty bomb and multiple casualties. Scenarios will be held both at Kentwood's Crestwood Middle School and at the city landfill on Butterworth.

Organizers of the drill say streets won't be shut down, and the public really won't notice other than a few convoys and helicopters.

Officials say this drill will also help responders with other disasters such as tornados, floods or anything else that could happen in this area.
