Meet Aura – Christine’s Pet of the Week!
Aura is such a precious girl and will do wonderful in any home!
Aura is a 2-year-old female Retriever/Terrier mix and was transferred to the Humane Society of West Michigan from a week ago, from Tennessee. She has such a fun and loving personality and just from meeting her today, I could tell she loves getting head pats and her ears rubbed. She's also a very calm dog. She is a social dog but is calm at the same time.
As far as living with other dogs, currently, Aura has a roommate who she gets along with
and has done well thus far with other female dogs. However, it's always encouraged that if you have another dog, or children, in the home that you bring them into the Humane Society so they can do a dog-to-dog or dog-to-child meeting and you can see how they interact before you adopt.
If you're interested in adopting a pet this Saturday, 10/22 is the day to do so because the Humane Society of West Michigan, along with 57 other shelters in Michigan, teamed up with the BISSELL Pet Foundation to "Empty the Shelter." The point is to get as many animals adopted as possible and BISSELL will be covering ALL adoption costs at ALL shelters. This means you can go home with a new dog or cat that is up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped all for FREE!
Not only that, but the BISSELL Pet Foundation will also be providing every new pet parent with an AdoptBox, which will include toys, treats, flea and tick prevention, pet insurance, and cleaning products to get you and your pet ready.
Because long lines are anticipated this Saturday, its recommended that you stop by the Humane Society of West Michigan before then to get pre-approved for your adoption. This required you to fill out paperwork and meet with an adoption councilor. This will make things a lot smoother for you when you go to adopt a pet on Saturday. But, make sure to arrive early! The Humane society is open now through Friday, 12p-7p.
