Every week, the Humane Society of West Michigan brings in a new furry friend for me to hang out with for a bit, and to be named as “Wendy’s Pet Of The Week“! This week, Jen from the Humane Society brought Mocha to visit.

Mocha is a 3-year-old Pit Bull mix and is looking for a nice home to call her own.

Jen said that Mocha just graduated from Project Bark, which is a program that the Humane Society and the Juvenile Detention Center provide to, not only work with dogs to better socialize them, but to work with the kids at the center to provide a positive experience with a pet.  Jen said that the program works wonders for both the animals and the kids involved.

You can get info on Mocha and all adoptable pets by checking out the Humane Society's website or by calling 616-453-8900.

Jen also told us a little about The Paws, Claws and Corks Gala coming up Monday, March 24 at DeVos Place. This fantastic event features the hottest restaurants, breweries, and wineries in West Michigan who all bring great cuisine, wine, and beer samples. There are also opportunities to bid on silent auction packages including adventures, trips, wine, sports memorabilia and much more!

Most importantly, money raised will benefit the Humane Society of West Michigan in their mission to promote the humane treatment and responsible care of animals in the community through education, example, responsible placement and protection.  The 2013 Paws, Claws & Corks raised over $85,000!
