This week, the Humane Society of West Michigan brought in an adorable dog named Moxxi. Moxxi is a 2-year-old Retriever and Chinese Shar-Pei Mix but favors the retriever side more. She's got some wrinkles and her bluish/purple tongue give away that she's a shar-pei but she's a cutie regardless! She also has a really pretty chocolate-colored coat. Moxxi is super friendly with a great personality and would do great in any type of home however she needs time and space to adjust to her new surroundings so that's something to keep in mind. Also, she'd do best in a home with no small children. It's preferred if the kids are older and more respectful.

ArtPrize officially kicks off today and there's an artist that collaborated with the Humane Society of West Michigan for her piece called '300.' The artist, Weatherly Stroh, visited the Michigan Humane Society and the Humane Society of West Michigan and took pictures of their adoptable animals which she used as inspiration for her paintings. All together, there are 300 paintings of different animals. The piece is to raise awareness on animal rescue and adoption. The entry is being shown at the City Water Building at 1101 Monroe Ave.

This Saturday (9/24), the Humane Society has a lot of adoption events going on.

  • 11a-2p: At the '300' piece during ArtPrize
  • 12p-3p: Anthropologie (Breton Village)
  • 2p-5p: Treetop Adventure (near Knapps Corner, Celebration Dr.)

Each location will have dogs available for adoption! If you're looking for a cat or another animal to adopt you can stop in at the Humane Society of West Michigan during their normal Saturday hours 11a-4p.

Also, the I Like Big Mutts special is STILL going on! All adult dogs, 5 months and older, who weigh 40 pounds or more are $100... that's $75 off which can go towards other things for your new pup! :) Thanks to Best Friends Animal Society for continuing the generous grant for making this possible.
