Natalie is a sweet 5-month old Retriever/Terrier Mix and while she is still very much a puppy, at the Humane Society of West Michigan an "adult" is classified as 5 months or older. Therefore, Natalie will have the adoption fee of an adult dog.

Included in that cost is Natalie's spay surgery, up-to-date vaccinations and a microchip so Natalie is all ready for her new home! Because she is still young, puppy classes and training is crucial because you don't want your new to develop bad habits at a young age. And because of her age, Natalie can acclimate to other animals. She will do great in any type of home or family.

Summer camp starts next week so if you haven't done so yet, sign the kids up now! They go all summer and different classes are offered for different age groups at different times.

If you're a mommy-to-be or parent-to-be and you have pets in the home, the Humane Society of West Michigan is offering a Baby Ready Pet Seminar on Saturday, June 10th from 12p-2p. The seminar will teach you how to get your fur baby ready and adjusted for your new baby. One of the main reasons for "owner-surrenders" is because a pet wasn't adjusting to a baby.. .don't let this be the case for you! Pre-register for this event by calling the Humane Society at 616.453.8900 or e-mail namiko@hswestmi.org. Leave pets at home for this one.

Another event to be on the look-out for is the Pet Therapy Seminar, also on Saturday June 10th. If you've thought about making your pet a therapy pet you can find all the information at this seminar. For example, a therapy pet would be one who does hospital/hospice visits. At this event, you'll find out if this is a good fit for you and your dog. The seminar will be held from 10a-2p and costs $35 which includes lunch.
