Every week, the Humane Society of West Michigan brings in a new furry friend for me to meet and feature as Wendy's Pet Of The Week. This week, I got a two-for!

Velma and her brother, Scooby Doo, part of a five-puppy litter and all named after characters in "Scooby Doo," came to visit!

Velma and Scooby are eight-weeks-old and are seriously two of the sweetest puppies I've ever met.

I know, I know, I say that all the time, but seriously, these two were super loving. In fact, I couldn't get a picture of them alone because our staff wanted to hold them. And half of them wanted to steal them and take them home.

Velma and Scooby are part pit bull and Shar Pei, and the folks at the Humane Society are guessing that there's another breed mixed in there, too. All five puppies in the litter are in need of good homes.

If you're interested in adopting any of these adorable pups, get in touch with the Humane Society of West Michigan at (616) 453-8900 or visit them online at www.hswestmi.org

Trudy Enders, the Humane Society's executive director, brought Velma and Scooby in. She said the society is looking for foster homes for the puppies.

The puppies need socialization, and they have foster families that do this, but as the puppy-and-kitten season begins, they could use more. They provide training and food, so it is a no-cost program for the families.
