A Genesee County man was recently caught trying to return over 10,000 non-returnable bottles.  Columbiaville, Michigan resident, Brian Edward Everidge, pleaded not guilty on the count of beverage return of non-refundable bottles, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.

Police stopped Everidge for speeding on April 27 while driving on US-23 and noticed a large quantity of bottles in his vehicle. The police investigated the odd amount of bottles and revealed an alleged plot to return the over 10,000 bottles to stores in Michigan.

(1) A person shall not return or attempt to return to a dealer for a refund 1 or more of the following:

(a) A beverage container that the person knows or should know was not purchased in this state as a filled returnable container.

(b) A beverage container that the person knows or should know did not have a deposit paid for it at the time of purchase.

If found guilty, Everidge could receive five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

C'mon, Mr. Everidge...  Didn't you ever see that episode of Seinfeld?  It didn't end well.
