What's with the giant reptiles being found in the Midwest lately?

After an alligator was found in Lake Michigan earlier this week, a Dearborn Heights man found a big ole' exotic lizard hanging out on his porch.

WXYZ reports Richard Heatherly opened his front door on Tuesday afternoon to a  2-foot lizard eating his cat's food.

Startled, the lizard ran off the porch and into a dog house in the yard.

Heatherly was able to lock the lizard inside. He noticed it was eating the dog food and must be hungry, so he got some apples and oranges and put them in the dog house to feed it.

Heatherly called Animal Control and the Argentine Black and White Tegu is now at the Michigan Humane Society.

The City of Dearborn Heights Animal Control posted to Facebook that anyone with information should call 313-791-3482.
