As of yesterday, April 30th, the Michigan State Police started Operation has officially started "Operation Ghost Rider".  Dozens of officers are now patrolling all across the state in unmarked vehicles, looking for distracted drivers.  They will be looking for drivers on their phone, people eating while driving, or just generally distracted drivers.

Even news stations in Indiana are warning drivers to be careful in Michigan.  WNDU interviewed Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, director of the Michigan State Police:

"Distracted drivers put themselves and everyone else on the road in extreme danger. That text, phone call, or any other behavior taking your focus off your driving, can and should wait," said Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue, director of the Michigan State Police. "We hope this traffic enforcement initiative will help change dangerous driver behavior."

The officers in unmarked vehicles will be looking for these distracted drivers and calling them in to local police to be pulled over.
