For the third time in five years, and the fifth time overall, the Michigan State Spartans won the Big Ten tournament, defeating Purdue 66-62 in Sunday's championship game in Indianapolis.

The Spartans win in the Big Ten Tournament helped secure the Spartans' a #2-seed in the NCAA Tournament, which was announced shortly after the end of the Big Ten tournament ended.

The Spartans were led by senior, and National Player of the Year candidate, Denzel Valentine, who had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists in the tournament championship victory.

Seniors Matt Costello and Bryn Forbes added eight and nine points respectively in the Spartans win.

The #2-seed Spartans will begin their march towards an NCAA Championship in the Midwest Region against #15-seed Middle Tennessee State Friday, March 18th, in St. Louis.
