It's a diverse list and one that continues to change each year. You'll find vehicles from 2002 - 2016. You'll also find Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, Pontiac and more.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) collects and shares data on vehicles stolen across the United States. It's a list you don't want to find your vehicle on, but it's important to be aware if your vehicle is among the most commonly stolen.

Here's NICB's list of the most stolen vehicles in Michigan in 2016:

  1. Chevrolet Impala 2008
  2. Dodge Charger 2016
  3. Chevrolet Pickup (full size) 2002
  4. Chevrolet Malibu 2013
  5. Chrysler 300/300M 2015
  6. Ford Pickup (full size) 2004
  7. Chevrolet Trailblazer 2007
  8. TIE: Dodge Caravan 2002 and Ford Fusion 2016
  9. Pontiac Grand Prix 2004

Compare Michigan's numbers to the cars most stolen across the nation in 2016 and you'll find some big differences. Including the fact that the top two were stolen more often than the next eight combined, and those top two didn't crack Michigan's top ten.

Here's NICB's list of the most stolen vehicles in the nation in 2016 (the number in parenthesis is the total stolen in 2016):
