Motorists in Michigan are required to purchase unlimited, lifetime medical benefits under Michigan's no-fault law.  Michigan's Senate Bill 293 would change that requirement.

Under Bill 293 Michigan motorists would be able to choose their own level of coverage.

WZZM reports:

Advocates for the change in the insurance law say the choice to select different levels of insurance would benefit the consumer. Supporters of the law change say it will ultimately save drivers money.

Opponents of the bill say the change would also cause a trickle-down effect, leading to job cuts at institutions that help accident victims.

This is just the beginning of the debate.  Change or no change, it will have an effect on both our well-being and our pocketbooks.
