More Body Cam Video From GR Police Shootout With FBI Agent Released
You may recall the story of an FBI agent pulling out a hand gun while visiting a Planet Fitness back in December. More video footage of the incident, which led to a brief shoot out with Grand Rapids Police, has been released.
This hour long video was posted to the YouTube channel JustPoliceVideos early Monday morning. In it, you can hear shots fired as a GR Police cruiser approaches the scene along Lake Eastbrook Drive. The shots can be heard at just after the seven minute mark.
Clips of these videos were released by local news organizations earlier this year, but this is the first public look at long, unedited versions of those videos.
The video also features GR Police approaching the agent, later identified as Ruben Hernandez, and discovering he's a Federal agent, and footage of Hernandez in police custody clearly distraught at the events that had transpired, begging to be allowed to go back to his family. His language shifts at times between Spanish and English when talking to a female officer about the incident.
Also released on the site was footage of his FBI partner, John Salazar, showing up at Grand Rapids Police Headquarters in an attempt to find out what happened.
Hernandez was fired by the FBI following the incident, and it was recommended that he receivno jail time in the case.
