We've all been encouraged to stay home the last few days because it's been unsafe to drive.

Since we can't go anywhere and it's too cold to go outside, it's time to movie binge!

No. 3: 'The Day After Tomorrow'

20th Century Fox

The ultimate winter storm hits Earth; it's a new ice age. In this disaster movie, a paleoclimatologist's son takes shelter in a New York library with other survivors after a super storm develops, dropping the temperature to -150 degrees. It was released in 2004 and stars Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal.

No. 2: 'The Shining'

Warner Bros

Does this need a summary? It's winter at the Overlook Hotel, which is built on a Native American burial ground. Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) moves his family into the hotel after taking a job as the winter care-taker. Jack goes crazy!

No. 1: 'Stephen King's Storm of the Century'

This was more of a TV miniseries than an actual movie, but it will kill 4½ hours. A blizzard hits the small town of Little Tall Island off the coast of Maine. The island is blocked, no one gets on and no one gets off. While the town is dealing with the storm, a resident is murdered and a strange man shows up saying only these words: "Give me what I want and I'll go away." If that doesn't frighten you, he knows the town's dark secrets. Let that sink it!

Funny how all have one thing in common, besides winter, isolation. Enjoy!
