If you get a call from the Muskegon County Sheriff's office asking for money, chances are you're being scammed.

WZZM reports that the scammers call on the phone telling people there are warrants out for their arrest.

They go on to say that you can avoid arrest if you pay bond using Green Dot prepaid debit cards.

As convenient as that sounds, the Sheriff's office does not contact people to pay bonds over the phone.

If you've lost money due to this scam contact the Sheriff's office.
