Napping, Apps, and Teething – Steve’s Daddy Tips (11-7-18)
Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!
Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke! So let's get to the tips!
- Today’s first daddy tip is about your baby’s napping schedule. Once your little one gets to be around a year old, they should still be napping 2-3 times a day, but that will eventually go down to just one nap a day sometime after the first year… Unless you are me. A very small percentage of babies will ditch the multiple naps within the first year, and Charlotte is one of them. It had us worried at first because babies need a lot of sleep to help with brain development, but as long as she is still getting around 14 hours of sleep, she should be fine, and she is. So this daddy tip is to be aware of how much your baby should be sleeping and plan accordingly.
- The next daddy tip is an app suggestion to help cut down on some baby costs. Download the Ibotta app. It’s an app that gives you money back for buying groceries that you are already going to buy. The app can be used on top of coupons and they almost always have money back for formula, baby food, and other baby items like diapers and wipes. You can find it in the itunes or google play app stores.
- The final daddy tip of the week is a warning about your teething baby. Now that Charlotte has little teeth, we have to be very careful what she puts in her mouth, and that includes your fingers and nose. Most babies haven’t mastered the art of giving a kiss, so instead they kinda just lick, bite, or smoosh their face on you. But we need to make sure that she isn’t putting our fingers or nose or ear or anything else in her mouth, because that bit hurts now! Ouch!
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad joke!
