Two communications companies in the Grand Rapids area are about to lay off nearly 150 employees.

One of the companies, Teleperformance USA, is located in Cascade Township but based out of Murray, Utah and it will be cutting 91 jobs. The layoffs are set for September 30th.

The second company, Charter Communications, is located in Walker and plans to cut 51 employees. They have set August 9th as the layoff date.

Charter Communications spokesperson, Bill Morand, said in a letter to the State of Michigan that half of the 51 employees that will be affected by the layoffs have been able to be moved some to other positions within the company.

Morand went on to say,

We continue to have a large presence in Southwest Michigan, including the greater Grand Rapids area, with hundreds of local employees, including 130 local field technicians who perform installation and service calls in customers' homes and businesses, technicians who maintain and upgrade our network, and other staff.
