No Doubt fans have been patiently awaiting the band’s return, and over the weekend, the quartet finally announced a Sept. 25 release date for their sixth studio album. Now, Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young are giving No Doubt lovers a sneak peek of a new track called ‘Push and Shove,’ which they previewed during an in-studio webisode.

Hard at work putting the finishing touches on their upcoming 2012 LP, the members of No Doubt individually discussed the overall recording process for the album during studio sessions in Santa Monica, Calif. “We are so doing cool hours,” Kanal, who plays bass, said to the camera. “We come in at 9:30 or 10 in the morning because we’re all up early. I was up at 6:30 this morning with my daughter. So I got to spend a few hours with her and then head into the studio.” No Doubt might be one with their fans, but it’s good to know that family still comes first!

Kanal later delved into the ‘Push and Shove’ track, which is a collaborative effort with Major Lazer, aka DJs/producers Diplo and Switch. The electro duo have been making their rounds in the pop genre lately, lending their song ‘Pon de Floor’ to Beyonce‘s ‘Run the World (Girls)’ track. “We got a call from Jimmy [Iovine] and [he said], ‘You should meet these guys. They really want to work with No Doubt.’ We had heard of Major Lazer and we had heard of Diplo and Switch. I reached out to them and said, ‘Do you have anything or do you want to work on something together?’ We all got in the studio together and worked on this track ['Push and Shove'].”

Later in the video, Stefani can be heard singing, “You push and shove / I take the bait / it’s a risky business, gonna play it anyway,” as Young pounds furiously on the drums, leading into a breakdown during the chorus. Major Lazer’s production is evident as heavy reggae beats make its way into the track, which also includes vocals from Jamaican artist Busy Signal. In the YouTube description, No Doubt writers, “Of all the songs on the album, this is the only collaboration of it’s kind. Enjoy!”
