A study released today ranks Ottawa County as the second healthiest county in Michigan.

Kent County also did well in the study, ranking as the 15th healthiest county in Michigan.

The study, conducted by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, ranks 82 of Michigan's 83 counties from most to least healthy.

The study considered multiple factors including:  age of death, birthweight, and reported physical and mental health.

The study also provides state-wide county rankings of "health behaviors" determined from levels of excessive drinking, smoking, physical inactivity, obesity, and more.  Clinical care, physical environment, and social and economic factors are reviewed in the report.
