‘Parks and Recreation’ Season 6 Spoilers: Rashida Jones’ Ann Being Replaced?
The future of 'Parks and Recreation' season 6 remains something of a question mark after learning that series stars Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe would depart the show midway through the upcoming run. We've heard about Jones' post-'Parks' plans, but what of the NBC series itself? Will someone new be brought into to replace the character, or will the show limp on to its final season?
According to TVLine, 'Parks and Recreation' Showrunner Mike Schur previewed that the NBC comedy will “position different people to fill in parts of [Leslie Knope's] emotional world. It won’t be just one person.” That isn't to say that anyone might arbitrarily arrive in Pawnee to fill the the role, as "we’re not just going to suddenly pretend that a new actor can come in and be, like, Leslie’s new best friend. It’s going to be people she already knows and relies on and cares about.”
In particular, Schur previewed that Donna Meagle (Retta) would step up to the plate as Leslie's new bestie, saying "Donna and Leslie will have some good connections and some good screen time together.”
For Knope or no, Parks and Recreation’ season 6 includes returning guest star Lucy Lawless, and new guests Kristen Bell, Sam Elliott and BIlly Eichner as Eagleton doppelgangers, supermodel Heidi Klum and Henry Winkler as Jean-Ralphio (Ben Schwartz)’s father. The hour-long September 26 premiere will venture to London largely to accommodate star Chris Pratt’s shooting role in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ while the latest episodes will continue the many threads started by last season’s finale, Tom’s mysterious “Rent-a-Swag” competitor, and April’s move to veterinary school.
Well, what say you? Will you miss Rashida Jones' Ann Perkins any more than Leslie herself when 'Parks and Recreation' season 6 starts up?
