Good news Phantom Of The Opera fans! The show will be making its premiere in Grand Rapids at the DeVos Performance Hall thanks to Broadway Grand Rapids!

The run of Phantom at DeVos Performance Hall will include 16 performances on May 18-29, 2016.

This announcement follows approval by the Kent County Convention/Arena Authority to upgrade DeVos Performance Hall. The upgrades are expected to cost around $300,000.

This new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical will be performed by a cast and orchestra of 52 people, which makes it the largest touring show in North America. This will also be the first time that Broadway Grand Rapids will have a touring show on stage for two weeks.

Since its debut, The Phantom of the Opera has been performed over 65,000 times, and has been seen by 130 million people in 29 countries and 150 cities in 13 languages.

The show has won more than 70 major theater awards.

Current Broadway Grand Rapids season ticket holders will have first opportunity to buy tickets.

Officials are hoping that the upgrades to DeVos Performance Hall will help to attract other larger touring shows including "The Lion King" and "Wicked".
