This year, Restaurant Week will kick off with some good old fashioned fun with an inaugural pie-eating contest. I'll be taking on some of the area's community leaders and other media personalities from around Grand Rapids, and we will all be competing for the coveted title: "Restaurant Week Pie Eating Champion."

We will be kicking it off at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Fulton Street Farmer's Market in Grand Rapids. The pie-eating contestants won't be the only ones who will DIG IN. You'll be treated to a sweet taste of Restaurant Week (minus the mess), made with fresh grown ingredients from the Fulton Street Farmer's Market.

Restaurant Week Grand Rapids 2012 will run from August 15-25, featuring three-course meals for $25 or two for $25 at more than 60 area participating restaurants. Visit RestaurantWeekGR.com for a complete list of restaurants and more announcements.

We look forward to celebrating the start of this week-long food fest with you Tuesday at the Fulton Street Farmer's Market at 10.am with 95-7!
