Local law enforcement officials stopped a vehicle near Grand Rapids at around 10a.m. Monday morning under suspicion that the driver was the I-96 shooter.

According to M-Live, the vehicle was followed into West Michigan by an Ingham County jail transport van, and then exited M-6 at Kalamazoo Ave.

The driver stopped for police, was questioned, and his car was searched. He was released at the scene, and police cleared the area quickly.

This is not the first traffic stop that has been made in connection with the I-96 shooter case. Police have stopped multiple vehicles on the east side of the state in their attempts to locate the shooter who they believe has sat in his vehicle shooting at 24 vehicles along the I-96 corridor.
