Looks like recreational Marijuana will be on the ballot in Michigan this November. Just waiting on the Board of State Canvassers to approve the signatures.

According to WOOD TV, marijuana will be regulated like alcohol. Tax revenue will be used to improve roads and schools.

The spokesman for the Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, Josh Hovey says "It's going to look a lot like the same Michigan today, only people are going to stop being arrested for small amounts of possession and consumption".

Just like alcohol, adults must be over the age of 21 to legally posses up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and up to 10 ounces in their homes. Use of marijuana would only be allowed at home and not in a public place. Driving under the influence of marijuana will still be illegal.

Hovey went on to say, "there's no 'I'm going to be smoking in the park or walking on the street lighting up a joint' or anything like that."

The state looking to bring in millions in revenue will have have a 10% excise tax on top of the state's 6% that would already be in place.

Local communities will decide on where dispensaries will exist through the zoning laws. The communities that bring in dispensaries will get 30% of the tax revenue with the rest applied to roads and schools.

The Board of State Canvassers are likely to approve the signatures by the end of the week. Then legalization will move onto the voters.
