Rob Experiences the Downtown Market and Getting a Henna Tattoo!
This past weekend marked ONE MONTH for me here in Grand Rapids and West Michigan! It feels like I’ve been here longer than just a month, but I credit the vibe this whole area has, it just makes you feel comfortable and like you’ve been here a while.
Sunday, Christine and I decided to go check out the Made in Michigan Pop-up Marketplace at the Downtown Market. I was excited because it was my first time to the Downtown Market, and I’ve heard so much about it. We picked a good day to explore as well, the weather was perfect and everyone was out selling and shopping!
Of course we checked out all the Made in Michigan vendors. They had so many different things from clothing, to decor for your place, to food, including some really healthy/delicious MI Fruit Pops. They also had a bar with Michigan beer and wine to buy.
And, of course, we made sure to stop in a get some sushi! They were both delish, but the Mango sushi roll, was AWESOME! (that’s the yellow one ;)) (the other one is the Hanna.)
And, of course, a stop to the Made in Michigan Pop-up Marketplace at the Downtown Market wouldn’t be complete without getting… a henna tattoo (truthfully, there’s probably other things you could get that are more “Michigan”, but this is what I ventured out on.) This was actually my first tattoo ever. Not that I’m against them, I just never have had the courage to get one. Now that I’ve got my first Henna… I want more! Maybe even a real one!!
Shout out to Harsha, my tattoo/henna artist. She was so fast and can do so much detail, it's crazy. She also does parties and other events. Get more info here if you're interested.
Here's my finished one
Here's Christine's - She got a cool design, and it didn't take long at all!
If you're interested in the Made In Michigan Pop-up Market, it returns to the Downtown Market, Sunday June 26th.
