Jason Hartmann, a 1999 graduate of Rockford High School, was the top American finisher at Monday's Boston Marathon.  He finished fourth overall.

Hartmann finished with a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 31 seconds.  That's less than 2 minutes off the winning time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 40 seconds posted by Kenyan Wesley Korir.

Strong finishes by runners from Grand Rapids are nothing new at the Boston Marathon.  Greg Meyer, a current resident of Rockford and a 1973 graduate of West Catholic High School, is the last American to have won the race.  Meyer won the Boston Marathon in 1983.  He comments on Hartmann's finish here.

Hartmann, 31, now lives in Boulder, Colorado.
