Saline Area Schools (near Ann Arbor) is considering mandating that all of their schools recite the Pledge of Allegiance daily.  This issue was brought to the Saline Board of Education by Trustee David Holden earlier this week.

The idea received mixed reactions.

And this may not be the last we hear of the issue.

The Michigan Senate passed a bill in November that would require all schools across the state to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of each day.  The bill has not been brought up in the Michigan House, but is expected to pass if it is.

Annarbor.com details many arguments both for and against the idea.
