The Detroit Tigers are sending at least six players to the 2013 All-Star Game.  That's the most since 1985.

It's still possible they could add another player to the team, if they do, that would be the most Detroit Tigers on an All-Star team in franchise history.

Players going to the game right now include:  Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Torii Hunter, Jhonny Peralta, Max Scherzer, and Justin Verlander.

Joaquin Benoit may be added to the team through the fans' "Final Vote".  Fans may vote for 1 of 5 American League players and also 1 of 5 National League players to be added to the All-Star Game roster.  Voting ends Thursday at 4:00pm EST.

Benoit has been doing well in voting so far, but the lead has changed several times making it hard to predict who might win.  Benoit has dominated voting in Michigan.  That includes getting 96.3% of the vote in Kent County at last check.

With the Detroit Tigers being a team capable of making a run to the World Series, the game takes on extra importance.  The league that wins the game earns home field advantage in the World Series.  More Tigers on the roster would be a good thing.

Also, watch for Prince Fielder defending his title in the Home Run Derby.  Fielder may be joined by Detroit Tiger Miguel Cabrera.  A spot in the Home Run Derby is being held for Cabrera.  He is expected to compete if his back is healthy enough.

The Home Run Derby is Monday, July 15 at 8:00pm.  The All-Star Game is Tuesday, July 16 at 8:00pm.
