The musical film, Sparkle, with the final movie role of the late, great, Whitney Houston, is now scheduled to hit movie theaters on August 17th. The picture remake is of the 1976 film of the same name, and features Houston in a Supremes like musical group who struggle with fame, fortune, and drugs... Somewhere I hear Alanis singing Ironic in the background.

The movie also includes performances by Jordin Sparks, Cee Lo Green and Mike Epps. Houston also recorded several songs for its soundtrack, which was intended as a comeback project for the troubled superstar. Such a shame it played out in this way, almost identical to the complete story of the real life star. The release date for the soundtrack has not been released, but it seems safe to assume that Houston's final recordings will hit stores sometime around the movies release.
