UPDATE: School officials and police now say that the situation was a misunderstanding and that the items found were part of a student's project on World War I.

Students at the C.A. Frost Environmental Science Academy Middle School in Grand Rapids were evacuated Thursday morning after staff say they found three apparent Molotov cocktails in a locker.

FOX-17 reports that staff removed them from the school before police had arrived on the scene.

WOOD-TV8 says that police have confirmed that the devices were, in fact, molotov cocktails.

Students were evacuated to Union High School, where parents were told to pick them up. No injuries have been reported.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area near the school while authorities investigate.
