Festival Of the Arts, Vince Fennell

Vance and I chat about what's on tap for Festival 2012, the Layered Festival poster, this year's regional arts exhibition that will be at the former Grand Rapids Press building on Michigan, and a bit about the history of Festival.  Festival of the Arts is June 1,2 & 3 in downtown Grand Rapids.

MoDiv:  Bing Goei of Bokay by Eastern Floral, Brian Cousins of The Wolverine Company Store and Abby Fowler, 6.25 Paper Studio

We also re-aired an interview I did with Bing Goei of Bokay by Eastern Floral, Brian Cousins of The Wolverine Company Store, Abby Fowler of 6.25 Paper Studio. Each of them runs a shop in the new downtown retail incubator MoDiv.

MoDiv is a hip, unique, retail incubator located at the corner of Monroe Center and Division. Bing, Brian, and Abbey chat with me about what exactly a retail incubator is and its goal, who their customers are, the family-like bond between MoDiv shop owners, what attracted them to the MoDiv concept, what some of the challenges of the past have been for downtown Grand Rapids retail and what it will take to make it a success!

In addition to Bokay by Eastern Floral, The Wolverine Company Store, and 6.25 Paper Studio, MoDiv is also home to Haworth | Interphase, Sofia Bella Couture, Vue Design, Chai Boutique, cPrime and Kitchen Sinc!

You can visit the shops of MoDiv at 40 Monroe Center NW (across from the police station).

I'm really looking forward to introducing you to folks around West Michigan every week who are helping to positively shape our area with their music, their art, their bold business ideas, and the causes they're passionate about!

Tom and Jake Scheidel also join me to chat about the 8th annual Jake's Music Festival to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We talk about the eclectic group of musicians that will be performing, about some of the important things people should understand about Juvenile Diabetes, and those who help make Jake's Music Festival possible.
