'Boyhood'

"R" seems a little extreme.

The Best Supporting Actress category was a tough one to predict this year, with five wonderful nominees all delivering some of their most vibrant work to date. But tonight the Academy recognized Patricia Arquette, giving her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2015 Oscars for her moving performance in Richard Linklater’s Boyhood.

Trailers are a huge part of the fabric of movies. They play before every film shown in theaters, and on every movie website around the world. They’re commercials, obviously, but they’re also more than that; miniature works of art that utilize the core elements of cinema—image, sound, music, action, editing—at their most pure and refined. Hold onto your butts this weekend at the movies! With summer in full swing, the five -- that's right, five -- new releases are packed with action, terror and plenty of big laughs (and a little heart, too, if you’re into that kind of thing). Of course, looming over the quintet is a sequel prequel in the third series of "Planet of the Apes" movies.
