A successful weekend for West Michigan high school football teams!

The new owners of a small bar in Conklin, Michigan are bringing back a St. Patrick's Day tradition that began in 1988. The Wearing of the Green parade will return to Conklin on St. Patrick's Day.

Earlier this year, 33-year-old tutor Abigail Simon was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Grand Rapids Catholic Central student. The case is being featured on Dateline on Thursday at 8 p.m. NBC's Keith Morrison narrates a preview of the episode.

Four West Michigan High School football coaches were among those inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association's Hall of Fame over the weekend. All coaches that were inducted have at least 20 years of experience or 100 wins.  The four coaches from West Michigan far exceed those numbers.

Grand Rapids high schools West Catholic and Catholic Central are hosting a blood drive with Michigan Blood Bank on Tuesday, August 30.  The blood drive will also serve as a fund raiser.  For each person who donates or tries to donate blood, Michigan Blood Bank will donate $10 to help provide clean water in Haiti.

Catholic Central basketball player, Mary Lefere, remains in critical condition today after hitting a pick-up truck on Saturday. Police say a witness confirms the 17-year old did run a red light just before the crash.

Two days after Fennville basketball player Wes Leonard fatally collapsed (of an undiagnosed enlarged heart) after making the winning shot for his team on Thursday ... Mary Lefere of Catholic Central was hospitalized after being critically injured in a car crash in Wyoming.
