Virtual 9/11 Tribute Planned for Friday
It started out as a normal Tuesday morning on September 11, 2001. The events that happened that day will never be forgotten. Most people can remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when the heard the news of the terrorist attacks on our country. This Friday marks 19 years since that day. In Grand Rapids, the West Michigan Community Day of Remembrance and Scout Salute committee will again hold their annual event honoring those killed in the attacks. This year the event will be virtual.

Never Forget 9/11: What does that mean to me? It means to never forget the GOOD people of that day who lost their lives to save total strangers. Never forget that we're all brothers and sisters, we're all human. It means good will always be the light that shines through the darkness of evil.

Grand Rapids remembered September 11, 2001 today with a Scout Salute at Gerald R. Ford Museum. The September 11 Scout Salute at Gerald R. Ford Museum has been an annual event since 2002.  About 600 scouts were expected to participate during today's salute.  The salute began at sunrise and went until 8:00pm when the day closed with a candlelight vigil.
