As the start of the 2014 baseball season fast approaches, the rebuilding process at Fifth Third Ballpark after the January 3 fire is well underway and on schedule to meet completion dates. In addition to rebuilding the first base concourse and suite level, the Whitecaps are also making several improvements to the ballpark.

Fifth Third Ballpark suffered a major fire on Friday, with more than $500,000 in damage apparently caused by a space heater. Since the fire, the Whitecaps have made one thing clear: they will be back and ready to play this spring.

The West Michigan Whitecaps' ownership expects to rebuild Fifth Third Ballpark in the wake of a Friday blaze that damaged the Comstock Park facility. Reserved seat tickets for the West Michigan Whitecaps’ July 4th holiday week games will be offered for a very special $5 price for one day only. Tuesday, July 2nd, fans can purchase tickets to the Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th games for the special price of $5, more than half off the regular $10.50 price. There is a limit of eight tickets per person for this special.

A few weeks ago the West Michigan Whitecaps announced ten finalists to be added to this year's menu.  Fans voted for their favorite potential menu item in the annual vote.  Voting closed on March 5 and the winner has been announced.

The West Michigan Whitecaps are no stranger to odd menu items.  In fact, it's become their trademark. The Whitecaps have been accepting submissions for food ideas for this year's menu.  The submissions have been reviewed and the ten finalists have been announced.
