It's been 16 years since Steve Jobs stood on stage and introduced the original iPod to the world, and changed the music industry forever. Now, in the age of smartphones and online streaming, the line of portable music players is on it's last legs.

Apple announced last week that they were discontinuing the iPod Nano and Shuffle, leaving only the iPod Touch still on the market. Three years ago, apple discontinued the iPod Classic, the last iPod with the iconic click wheel. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, as the iPod is obsolete in a time where I can look up any song I want on Spotify and listen to it right on my phone.

Don't worry, Apple is still offering support for the discontinued iPods for the time being, but don't plan on having that free tech support forever.
