There’s a Bear on the Loose on Grand Rapids’ West Side

Well, here's an issue we don't often run into in the city - there's a black bear on the loose on Grand Rapids' west side.

WOODTV-8 reports that the bear was spotted Thursday morning near the area of Dayton St. and Straight Ave.

The bear is NOT from the zoo, but folks from the John Ball Zoo as well as the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are working to capture the animal.

Nawara Brothers Home Store posted a photo to Facebook around 10 a.m. Thursday showing the bear up in a tree on Watson St. SW.
