Grand Rapids was all about Harley Quinn last year and the comic book theme is still a popular choice in 2017.

Frightgeist took the 500 most searched costumes on Google and analyzed the trends to find the most popular Halloween costumes this year; nationally and locally.

According to the data, these are the 5 most popular costumes in Grand Rapids:

  1. Wonder Woman
  2. Rabbit
  3. Batman
  4. Unicorn
  5. Spider-Man

In the U.S., these are the top 5 most popular costumes:

  1. Wonder Woman
  2. Harley Quinn
  3. Clown
  4. Unicorn
  5. Rabbit

It isn't surprising that Wonder Woman is the most popular costume in both Grand Rapids and the U.S. since the Wonder Woman movie had huge success this year. And while Harley Quinn held that top spot last year, it seems as if most Grand Rapidians are over the Suicide Squad phase because she doesn't even appear on the list. The rest of America, though, is still obviously riding the HQ train. With that being said, who do you think would win in a fight between Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn?

I'm not sure what the rabbit fascination is for it to crack the top 5 but animals do make up 12% of all costume searches. I'm just happy that clown didn't make the list on a local level because I considered hiding out in my apartment this Halloween. *Fingers Crossed* we don't see Pennywise walking the streets of Grand Rapids this year... or hiding out in any sewers.

Overall, if you were planning on being a superhero this Halloween and kicking some ass... just know that there's a good chance you won't be the only one trying to save the world.

If you want to stand out from the crowd or want to show some hometown love, check out these Grand Rapids-inspired Halloween costumes.
