Do you travel a lot?  Or have a job where you’re going in and out of hotel rooms a lot?  You could be on the front line of helping stop human trafficking without ever having to actually get involved.

There’s’ a new app named TraffickCam and it helps law enforcement in the search for suspected victims of human trafficking. When you walk into your hotel room, you snap 4 pictures along with the hotel name and location with the app, and then upload them to the site’s database.  From there, law enforcement agencies can use the database of uploaded images to compare with videos and images they receive from sources reporting human trafficking.

“Right now there are pictures posted every day. Hundreds of pictures, in every city around the United States, posted online, that show victims of trafficking, in hotel rooms posed on beds” says Washington University Researcher and TraffickCam developer Abby Stylianou. -TNW

The app really helps law enforcement understand where the victims are being held, where they’ve been and what routes the traffickers user to move victims around the world.  TraffickCam is available for Andriod, iOS and on the web and is FREE. It may not be the most desired thoughts to have as you check into your hotel room, but knowing that four simple pictures could save a life is definitely a solid reason to download and use TraffickCam.
