Earlier today police responded to a shooting near Hope Academy on the 200 block of Brown St. SE.  Three people were injured, two being shot in the leg and another in the torso.  Police have started a search for two or three suspects in the shooting.  The victims have been taken area hospitals and it is being reported that they have not sustained life threatening injuries.

UPDATE:  WZZM 13 reports the following.

In a statement released to media late Monday afternoon, hope Academy superintendent Heidi Cate confirms two of the victims in the shooting were students of her school.

"We are thankful that neither student sustained life threatening injuries," Cate says in the statement.

The superintendent also says, "Based on the reports of staff who witnessed the incident, we do not believe the suspects are Hope Academy students."
