This story just keeps getting better!

Earlier this week, hearts across Michigan (and the U.S.) were broken when they learned that Eastwood, a special needs dog, was the only one left at a shelter in Harbor Springs after the 'Empty the Shelter' event from the weekend.

The Humane Society posted the sad story on their website and Facebook and it immediately went viral with people offering to take in the dog. Little Traverse Bay Humane Society was overwhelmed with the outpour of support that they even had to stop accepting applications. Then yesterday they announced on their Facebook page that Eastwood had been adopted!

But this is where the story gets even better. ClickOnDetroit is reporting that it was actually Stan Van Gundy, the head coach for the Detroit Pistons, that will be taking Eastwood to his forever home!

Cathy Bissell, from the BISSELL Pet Foundation, left a message of gratitude for the Van Gundy's on Facebook:

We are so grateful to the Van Gundy family for the awareness they are bringing to adoption and for opening their hearts to make a difference that will change Eastwood’s life forever!"

ClickOnDetroit says that the BISSELL Pet Foundation has even paid for the adoption.

We are SO happy to hear that Eastwood will be going to a loving home, but I'm a little jealous because he's probably now guaranteed lifetime court-side tickets at the Pistons game.
