My mind was totally made up. The corgi version of Carly Rae Jepsen's  "Call Me Maybe" was hands down the best-- surpassing Sparty, President Obama, this random guy, and even Cookie Monster. And then, I watched these US soldiers break down it military style at a Kandahar base in Afghanistan. I've got a new a favorite! Check out the video after the jump!

What's super impressive is that the Marines had only half an hour to learn the dance moves and then just half an hour to shoot the video!

Afghanistan-based videographer Eric Raum explains on his website that a friend approached him about doing a military version of Carly Rae Jepsen's hit. With all the covers and parodies out there, he thought, why not? It could  be a lot of fun, with the added benefit of being good for morale. Marine command at Kandahar agreed, inviting Raum and his crew in to film-- but emphasizing that they'd have very limited time to do so. So Raum filmed the soldiers on their lunch breaks.

For the rest of the video, they roamed the base grabbing people from all lines of service to bust out their own dance moves. Raum said,

Sometimes people think of the military in a de-humanized way. What I’ve learned over here is how incredibly diverse each person is. Different hobbies, different skills, even different dance moves. I am always amazed at the amount of talent and creativity I see out here and it is a blessing to have the opportunity to show a glimpse of that to people back home.

My favorite part of the video is how happy the soldiers the look. It's awesome to see the people who work so hard to serve our country having a good time! Their joy is contagious-- it's pretty impossible to watch the video and not smile. Raum sums it up well, saying:

(This) had a great impact on the morale of not only the service members in the video, but those we've shared it with since. It is important to take a break and have some fun every once and a while, whether you're back in the states hanging with friends and family, or serving your country under the Afghanistan sun.

Ooh-rah to that!
