It takes thousands of volunteer hours to make ArtPrize a success. Some volunteers work directly for ArtPrize, some for venues, others assist artists.

Kate Gilmore's "Higher Ground" has a very unique volunteer opportunity.

Gilmore needs women to wear white dresses and swing for one-hour shifts.

"Higher Ground" has grabbed the attention of both the public and the jury. The time-based entry has been in the Public's Top 25. It has also made the Jurors' Shortlist.

The piece "explores the dynamics of power and the construct of femininity".

Up to nine volunteers are needed at a time to fill all of the swings in the house. One-hour shifts are recommended. Volunteer performers are required to wear the costumes provided. The long white dresses are all size large with high waists that can be cinched. Red ballet flats are available too.

Volunteer Tamera Fox gives an inside look at what it's like to work on "Higher Ground".
