A few communities are opening up warming centers for those who are without power due to the weather. Consumers Energy had up to 147,000 customers without power as of Thursday afternoon.

The city of Walker has opened up their upstairs community room at Fire Station No. 3 to be used as a warming shelter. The station is located at 1470 3 Mile Road NW. The warming area will have coffee, water, charging outlets, but no cots.

The East Grand Rapids Community Center is running on a generator, but was open to people without power

Out in Ottawa County they are working with the America Red Cross to open a shelter for residents facing a long-term power outage. Those interested in staying at the shelter should call (800) 249-0911.

In Greenville, the Jesus Non-Denominational Church is offering shelter for those without power. The church is located at 9206 West Peck Road. They are asking people to call first at (616) 550-4667 if you plan on stopping by. If you are staying at the church you should bring your own pillows, blankets and cots.
