The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for most of West Michigan starting Friday, December 16th at 7AM.

Here is the advisory issued for Kent County:

Winter Weather advisory is in effect from 7AM this morning to 7AM EST Sunday.

Hazardous Weather: Snow developing this morning.  Snow intensity will become heavier late today through Saturday.  Low visibilities.  Total snow accumulation 4 to 7 inches through Saturday evening.

Impacts: Snow rapidly accumulating on roads.  Slippery travel beginning with the morning commute.  Poor visibility on roadways.

Precautionary / Preparedness Actions: The Michigan Department of Transportation reminds motorists to adjust speeds based on the conditions and to take it slow in ice and snow.  Weather preparedness information is available on line at www.Ready.gov/Winter
