If you've been to Z's Bar & Restaurant in downtown Grand Rapids any time in the last decade, chances are you've met Dave Draugalis. Dave has worked at Z's for more than fourteen years, and now he's recovering from severe injuries following a bicycle crash.

Draugalis was hit by a pick-up truck while riding his bike near the White Pine Trail in Cedar Springs on Tuesday, August 9.

He suffered a broken arm, ruptured aorta, collapsed lung, and broken pelvis in the crash. Doctors attempted to wake Draugalis from a medically-induced coma on Sunday, but discovered a bleed on his upper right brain, and moderate to severe swelling. He's been moved to a quiet room for further recovery - which means that the room is dark and quiet.

Draugalis and his wife Nita, were married just short of three weeks ago. They have five children.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the Draugalis', and Z's Bar also says that cash donations can be dropped off directly at the bar.

There will also be a benefit held for Draugalis on September 7 at Z's starting at 6 p.m.

Future events are also in the planning stages, including a blood drive and a bike ride.
