If you noticed hazy smoke covering the sky over the weekend, it wasn't fireworks. It was something coming from much further away.

All weekend we should have had perfectly blue skies, but large forest fires in Canada have caused much of West Michigan to be covered in a haze.

WOOD TV-8 reports thousands of people living in Saskatchewan, a western Canadian province, have been evacuated due to fires that have consumed close to 740,000 acres.

Today's cold front should remove any of the remaining smoke from the West Michigan sky.
